Better To Have A Millstone

In other countries around the world, “marriage” often looks remarkably different than the celebrations we have in America. In recent days, reports from the Middle East (specifically countries where ISIS continues to gain more ground) have revealed even prepubescent girls are being married off to adult men. Other girls are being sold into sexual slavery. Either way, the situation is dire.6.00658986000024

According to Zainab Bangura, a special representative to the UN general secretary, facts on the ground reveal the disturbing and inhumane treatment of young girls who are stripped naked, exposed to “virginity tests,” and many of them are sent to “slave auctions” after their villages have been attacked, and they’ve been subjected to the “killing their husbands, fathers and brothers.” Bangura speaks of one girl who was traded off 22 times to different men. Other girls are exposed to repeated rapes and subsequent surgeries to “restore” their virginity.

Given the limitations of language, it’s difficult to research the documented accusations Bangura brings forward. She traveled to the region in April, interviewing women in five countries who have suffered brutal captivity and sexual violence meted out by ISIS. The charges are compelling. A female, no matter her age, is exposed to daily threats just because she is female.yazidis-704x318

I’d like to know where the feminists are on this. Why isn’t there a hue and cry the likes of which we’ve never seen before?! Whether it’s ISIS or Boko Haram committing these crimes against humanity, why the silence?

At least one girl was burned alive, according to Bangura, because she refused to perform the “extreme sexual acts” demanded by her “owner.

Yet there are no labels of “rape culture” being attached to ISIS or BH. The same women who would march for “choice” in this country haven’t lifted a finger for these Middle East victims … like the girl who was burned alive because she expressed her “choice” about what she would and would not do.

I imagine the same activists who are militantly “pro-choice” would be unmoved to know girls as young as nine have undergone abortions.

Yes, I can get angry about the horrors being perpetrated by ISIS against women and children. This so-called religion of “peace” is showing itself to be murderous and perverse and diabolical. The idea that a religion (any religion!) would condone the bloodthirsty acts and behavior now being documented by the UN is beyond my comprehension!

Jesus Christ held a high view of women and children. He expressed love and solicitude (not violence of any sort) toward them. I’m reminded of His words from Matthew 18:6 when He said:  “If one of these little children believes in me, and someone causes that child to sin, it will be very bad for that person. It would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be drowned in the deep sea.

I shudder to think what judgment comes to a religious leader or devotee who uses his religion as an excuse to justify savage and despicable deeds.
